The India Meteorological Department's Jaipur centre has issued a forecast of light to moderate thunderstorms and rain for several eastern districts of Rajasthan starting 27 August, prompting alerts for six districts.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) office in Jaipur has announced that the monsoon will become active over eastern Rajasthan from 27 August. Meteorologists expect light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms across six districts in the region. The forecast covers districts such as Dholpur, Bharatpur, Karauli, Sawai Madhopur, Jhunjhunu and Sikar, where residents have been advised to stay alert.

IMD officials said the system moving in from the Bay of Bengal is likely to bring intermittent showers rather than prolonged heavy rain, but the intensity could vary locally. The department has issued a weather alert for the six districts, urging people to avoid non‑essential travel during peak hours and to secure loose objects that could be displaced by strong gusts.

Local authorities in the affected districts are preparing emergency response measures, including readiness of relief teams and ensuring drainage systems are clear. Residents are recommended to keep updated with real‑time weather bulletins on the IMD website and local news channels.
