The Election Commission of India has decided to drop the SIR (Statement of Information and Reconciliation) declaration from the standard Form 6 used by candidates, instructing them to submit the declaration separately.

The Election Commission of India (EC) announced that the SIR declaration will no longer be part of the mandatory Form 6, which is used by candidates to file their election documents. The change is aimed at simplifying the filing process and reducing the administrative burden on candidates.

Under the new directive, candidates are required to submit the SIR declaration as a separate document along with the rest of their election paperwork. The EC stated that this adjustment will not affect the overall compliance requirements, but will make it easier for candidates to manage their submissions.

The EC’s decision comes after a review of the existing filing procedures, with the commission noting that the separate submission would allow for clearer verification of information. Candidates who have already filed Form 6 will need to provide the SIR declaration within the stipulated time frame.

Election officials have urged all candidates to review the updated guidelines carefully to ensure timely compliance with the new filing format.
