The India Meteorological Department warns of widespread heavy rainfall through 11 September, with floodwaters in Bihar already affecting about 1.6 million people.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an advisory indicating that heavy rainfall is likely to persist across large parts of the country until September 11. The warning covers several states, with authorities urged to activate disaster‑response mechanisms.

In Bihar, the ongoing floods have already impacted roughly 1.6 million residents, submerging villages, damaging crops and disrupting transport networks. Local officials report that many families have been forced to relocate to relief camps as water levels continue to rise.

State disaster management teams, along with the National Disaster Response Force, have been deployed to conduct evacuations, provide emergency supplies, and reinforce embankments. The government has appealed to citizens to heed safety advisories, avoid water‑logged roads, and cooperate with rescue personnel.

The IMD expects the intensity of rainfall to gradually ease after the 11th, but monitoring will remain in place to issue further alerts if conditions deteriorate.
