Intense rainfall in Damoh district caused widespread waterlogging, submerging several colonies and collapsing more than ten houses in Bandikpur, while SDRF teams rescued residents by boat.
Heavy rain swept across Damoh in Madhya Pradesh, creating severe flooding that affected large parts of the district. Continuous downpour led to rapid accumulation of water in low‑lying areas, overwhelming local drainage systems.
Several residential colonies were reported to be completely underwater, with water levels rising up to three feet inside many homes. Residents struggled to move within their houses as floor levels were submerged.
In the town of Bandikpur, the situation turned critical when more than ten houses collapsed under the pressure of the saturated ground and water load. The structural failures left families displaced and in urgent need of assistance.
State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) teams mobilised quickly, deploying boats to navigate the flooded streets. Rescue crews evacuated trapped occupants and transported them to safety, prioritising vulnerable groups such as children and the elderly.
Local authorities continue to monitor the situation, urging citizens to avoid wading through floodwaters and to cooperate with rescue operations until the water recedes.
