Heavy rain over the past 24 hours caused sudden flash floods in Rajouri town, Jammu & Kashmir, prompting the local administration to evacuate hundreds of residents from low‑lying areas.
The Jammu & Kashmir Disaster Management Authority (JKDMA) coordinated the evacuation, moving people to temporary shelters in nearby villages and schools. Roughly 400–500 families were relocated, according to official estimates.
The floods disrupted main roads and damaged several houses, with water levels reaching up to 3 meters in some parts of the town. Power lines were also affected, leaving parts of Rajouri without electricity.
