Bihar's health minister Nischal Kumar conducted a surprise night check of Sitamarhi Sadar Hospital, noting absent doctors and poor cleanliness, and reprimanded officials.

Bihar Health Minister Nischal Kumar arrived at Sitamarhi Sadar Hospital in the early hours for an unscheduled inspection. He toured the emergency wing and several other departments, directly interacting with patients and their relatives to gauge the quality of services.

During the walk‑through, the minister observed that a number of doctors were not present in their respective wards, raising concerns about staffing levels at a crucial time. He also highlighted the unhygienic conditions in certain areas, describing the state of cleanliness as unacceptable for a public health facility.

Minister Kumar publicly rebuked senior hospital officials for the lapses, urging immediate corrective action to ensure adequate medical personnel and proper sanitation. The inspection underscores the state government's focus on improving patient care standards in Bihar's district hospitals.

The health department has not yet released a detailed report, but officials indicated that a follow‑up review will be scheduled to monitor compliance with the minister's directives.
