Haryana to Bring Municipal Sanitation Workers Under State Purview, Grant DA and Gratuity

The Haryana government announced that sanitation workers employed by municipal bodies will now come under the state’s administrative control, making them eligible for dearness allowance and gratuity benefits.
The decision brings the sanitation workforce of Haryana's municipalities directly under the state government's jurisdiction. Previously, these workers were managed by individual municipal corporations or councils. This shift aims to standardize service conditions across the state.
Under the new arrangement, the workers will be entitled to dearness allowance (DA) and gratuity, benefits that were not uniformly available under the municipal setup. The state will now fund and administer these components.
