Haryana Govt Mandates Yoga for Class 6 This Session, Expands to Grades 3-9 Next Year

The Haryana Government has announced the integration of yoga into the school curriculum, starting with Class 6 in the current academic session and expanding to Classes 3 through 9 in the following year.
The Haryana government is set to significantly expand the reach of yoga education within the state. Effective from the current academic session, 2026-27, yoga will be formally introduced as a subject for students in Class 6.
This initiative is planned for further expansion in the upcoming academic year. The state education department intends to extend yoga instruction to all students from Class 3 up to Class 9.
Beyond the school curriculum, the Haryana government has also indicated plans to incorporate yoga into its recruitment examinations. This includes making yoga a component in examinations conducted by the Haryana Public Service Commission (HPSC) and the Haryana Staff Selection Commission (HSSC).
