From November 1, Delhi will prohibit all non‑BS‑VI vehicles from entering the city. In response, district authorities in Haryana have begun a public‑awareness campaign to inform commuters about the upcoming ban.

Delhi's municipal administration announced that, effective 1 November, any vehicle that does not meet the BS‑VI emission standard will be barred from entering the National Capital Region. The move is part of the capital's broader effort to curb air pollution and align with the central government's clean‑air directives.

The restriction will affect commuters, commercial fleets and inter‑state traffic that currently rely on older diesel or petrol engines. Vehicle owners are expected to upgrade to BS‑VI compliant models or seek alternative transport options before the deadline.

Anticipating a surge in public queries, officials in several Haryana districts have launched an awareness drive. District magistrates and transport officers are circulating pamphlets, posting signage at major entry points and using SMS alerts to educate drivers about the ban and the steps needed for compliance.

Authorities also plan to coordinate with Delhi police to monitor traffic at border checkpoints, ensuring that non‑compliant vehicles are turned back or fined. The joint effort aims to minimise disruption while supporting the capital's environmental goals.
