Heavy rainfall in Gurugram triggered widespread flooding, road blockages and several cave‑ins, prompting the Indian Meteorological Department to issue a red alert. Emergency services are responding to rescue operations across the city.
On Thursday, Gurugram experienced an intense downpour that lasted for several hours, with rainfall exceeding 200 mm in some areas. The deluge caused major roads such as the Gurugram‑Delhi Expressway to become impassable, and several residential streets were submerged, forcing residents to evacuate. Several low‑lying structures collapsed, including a makeshift shelter in Sector 28, injuring at least three people. The Indian Meteorological Department had issued a red alert earlier in the day, and emergency services, including the Gurugram Municipal Corporation and the Haryana Police, are conducting rescue operations and clearing debris.
