A Gujarat-based startup has teamed up with US‑based Semtech to create a LoRa-enabled RISC‑V chip, aiming to boost low‑power IoT applications.
An unnamed Gujarat-based startup has announced a partnership with US‑based Semtech to develop a LoRa‑enabled RISC‑V chip.
The collaboration aims to combine Semtech’s LoRa technology with the open‑source RISC‑V architecture, creating a low‑power, high‑performance solution for Internet‑of‑Things devices.
The new chip is expected to support long‑range wireless communication while maintaining low energy consumption, making it suitable for smart agriculture, industrial monitoring and other IoT applications across India.
Both companies highlighted that the joint effort will accelerate the adoption of RISC‑V in the Indian semiconductor ecosystem and provide a cost‑effective alternative to existing proprietary processors.
