Police in Gujarat have detained two men accused of providing bank account details to handlers in Dubai as part of a Rs 50 crore cyber fraud operation.
Gujarat police have taken into custody two men suspected of supplying bank account information to operatives based in Dubai. The arrests were made as part of a broader investigation into a cyber fraud network that is alleged to have siphoned roughly Rs 50 crore from victims across the country.
The detained individuals are reported to have acted as intermediaries, linking Indian bank accounts to the Dubai handlers who coordinated the fraudulent transactions. By providing the account details, they allegedly enabled the movement of illicit funds and helped conceal the origin of the money.
The case is being handled by the state's cyber crime cell in collaboration with central investigative agencies. Authorities said the operation involved sophisticated phishing and malware attacks that compromised personal data, which was then used to set up fraudulent transfers.
Investigators are now examining the full extent of the network, tracing additional accounts, and working with international law‑enforcement partners to identify the Dubai‑based handlers. The two suspects remain in custody pending further legal proceedings.
