The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has kept Gujarat under a red alert after persistent heavy rainfall turned into a disaster in several districts.
The red alert, the highest level of weather warning, was issued due to continuous downpours that caused widespread flooding, landslides, and road blockages.
In addition to Gujarat, the IMD has warned that more than 20 states across the country are likely to experience severe weather, including heavy rains and thunderstorms.
Authorities have urged residents to stay indoors, avoid low‑lying areas, and follow evacuation orders if necessary.
