Governor Girish Chandra Gupta has outlined a plan to link spiritual sites across Jammu and Himachal Pradesh into a single tourism circuit, aiming to boost pilgrim footfall and regional development.

New Delhi – Governor Girish Chandra Gupta announced a proposal to create an integrated spiritual tourism circuit that will connect major pilgrimage sites in Jammu and the neighboring state of Himachal Pradesh. The scheme envisions coordinated infrastructure upgrades, joint marketing initiatives and streamlined travel services to make multi‑state pilgrimages more accessible.

The governor highlighted the cultural and economic benefits of such a corridor, noting that both regions host a rich tapestry of temples, shrines and monasteries that attract devotees from across the country. By linking these destinations, the plan seeks to extend visitor stays, generate local employment and promote ancillary sectors such as hospitality and transport.

Implementation will involve collaboration between the administrations of Jammu and Kashmir (Union Territory) and Himachal Pradesh, along with tourism departments and local authorities. Details on funding, timelines and specific sites are expected to be discussed in forthcoming meetings with state officials.

If approved, the integrated circuit could position the northern belt as a premier spiritual tourism hub, complementing existing initiatives aimed at boosting tourism in the Himalayan region.
