The Goa state government has set up camps across the state to speed up processing of tribal forest‑rights applications under the Forest Rights Act.

The Goa state government has organized a series of camps across the state aimed at expediting the processing of forest rights applications filed by tribal communities under the Forest Rights Act.

The camps, set up in district headquarters and tribal‑dominant areas, will allow claimants to submit documents, receive guidance from officials and obtain on‑spot verification, officials said.

The move comes as part of the state’s effort to address the backlog of pending claims and ensure that eligible tribals receive legal title to forest land, which can improve livelihood and forest conservation.

The government has allocated funds and staff to the initiative and plans to complete the verification of pending claims within a stipulated timeframe, though exact dates were not disclosed.
