The Chief Minister of Goa unveiled the Goa Ujjwala Yojana, offering households an annual LPG subsidy of ₹3,000 to ease cooking fuel costs.

On Thursday, the Chief Minister of Goa inaugurated the Goa Ujjwala Yojana in Panaji, announcing a ₹3,000 annual subsidy for LPG cylinders to eligible families.

The scheme targets households below the poverty line, with a particular focus on women heads of families, and aims to reduce the cost burden of cooking fuel. Eligible families will receive the subsidy directly through their existing LPG accounts, with the amount credited each year.

The CM highlighted that the initiative will help improve household energy security and support the state’s broader goal of promoting clean cooking solutions. He also noted that the programme aligns with the central government’s Ujjwala Yojana, extending its benefits to Goa residents.

Officials said the subsidy will be disbursed through the state’s LPG distribution network, and families will be notified via SMS and local outreach teams.

The launch marks a significant step in Goa’s efforts to provide affordable energy to its citizens, with the state government promising to monitor the programme’s impact closely.
