The Government of Goa has moved up the start date of the 2024 population census to December 1, ahead of the originally scheduled timeline.
The state government announced that the decennial population census in Goa will commence on December 1, advancing the schedule by several weeks.
The decision, communicated by the Directorate of Census Operations, aims to align Goa’s data collection with the national timeline and ensure timely completion before the year‑end.
Officials said field teams will be deployed across all districts, and residents are requested to cooperate by providing accurate information at designated enumeration centers.
The advancement does not alter the scope of the census, which will continue to gather demographic, socioeconomic and housing data as part of the nationwide exercise.
The government will monitor progress and release preliminary findings in early 2025.
