The Government of Goa has advanced the start date of the upcoming population census to December 1, ahead of the previously scheduled timeline.

The state administration announced that the nationwide population enumeration in Goa will commence on December 1, accelerating the schedule previously set for early 2025. Officials said the revision aims to align the state’s data collection with the central government's revised timeline for the decennial census.

The decision was communicated through a press release from the Goa Directorate of Economics and Statistics, which will oversee the field operations. Enumerators are being mobilised across all districts, with training sessions slated for late November.

Authorities have urged residents to cooperate with the census teams, emphasizing that accurate demographic data is crucial for planning public services, infrastructure projects and allocation of central funds.
