CEO Sanjay Kaul told NDTV that GIFT City's immediate role is to act as a gateway for overseas companies looking to do business in India.
GIFT City chief executive Sanjay Kaul told NDTV that the city’s short‑term objective is to serve as a conduit for global enterprises seeking entry into the Indian market. He emphasized that the financial hub’s infrastructure, regulatory framework and tax incentives are designed to simplify cross‑border transactions and attract foreign investment.
Kaul highlighted that GIFT City already offers a range of services, including banking, capital markets and professional services, under a single‑window system. This integrated approach, he said, reduces compliance burdens for multinational firms and accelerates their operational set‑up.
The CEO added that while the long‑term vision is to position GIFT City as a world‑class financial centre, the immediate focus remains on facilitating seamless market access for foreign companies, thereby strengthening India’s role in global trade and finance.
