Police have detained former employees of a local supermarket after they were accused of stealing ₹62 lakh from the store.

Police arrested four former employees of a local supermarket on Thursday after an internal audit uncovered a missing ₹62 lakh.

The arrests were carried out by the city police's anti‑corruption wing following a complaint filed by the store’s management.

According to officials, the accused had accessed the store’s cash registers and inventory records over a period of several months, siphoning off the funds.

The supermarket chain has issued a statement condemning the act and has cooperated fully with the investigation.

The case is now under the jurisdiction of the district court, and the accused are being held on bail pending trial.
