Punjab Vigilance Bureau has flagged 10 shell companies linked to former minister Bikramjit Singh Majithia, alleging that he moved 686 crore rupees between two accounts through these entities, exceeding his declared income.
The Punjab Vigilance Bureau has placed ten shell companies on its radar after uncovering a financial trail that links former minister Bikramjit Singh Majithia to a 686‑crore rupee asset‑scam. The investigation alleges that the ex‑minister used these companies to funnel money between two bank accounts, thereby inflating his wealth beyond the limits of his declared income.
According to preliminary findings, the shell entities were created to mask the origin of the funds and to facilitate the transfer of large sums to accounts held by the minister’s associates. The money was allegedly moved in a series of transactions that bypassed normal regulatory scrutiny.
Punjab Chief Minister has publicly warned that the situation is now difficult to evade, underscoring the seriousness of the allegations. The CM’s remarks come amid growing pressure from opposition parties and civil society groups demanding a transparent inquiry.
While the case is still under investigation, the Vigilance Bureau has requested the Central Bureau of Investigation to take over the probe. No formal charges have yet been filed, but the authorities are said to be compiling evidence for a possible filing in the coming weeks.
