During the Nag Panchami festival, the Madhya Pradesh Forest Department, in partnership with the Kal Bhairav Animal Welfare Foundation, rescued more than twenty snakes from a snake charmer’s enclosure in Damoh and released them into the wild after medical checks.

The Nag Panchami celebrations in Damoh were marked by a wildlife rescue operation carried out by the Madhya Pradesh Forest Department. In collaboration with the Kal Bhairav Animal Welfare Foundation, officials located a snake charmer’s enclosure that housed more than twenty snakes. The animals were safely extracted and transported to a nearby veterinary facility for health checks. After confirming they were disease‑free, the snakes were released back into their natural habitat, underscoring the department’s commitment to wildlife protection.
