Rajasthan food safety officials confiscated about 600 kg of spoiled mawa and namkeen from a bus in Pallu ahead of the festival and destroyed the items using a JCB machine.
Pallu, Rajasthan – On the eve of the upcoming festival, a team of food‑safety inspectors stopped a local bus and recovered roughly 600 kilograms of rotting mawa and assorted namkeen. The haul was discovered during a routine check aimed at preventing the distribution of unsafe food items.
Laboratory tests indicated that the dairy‑based mawa had turned sour and the namkeen showed signs of microbial contamination, posing a health risk to consumers. Following the seizure, the officials used a JCB excavator to crush and destroy the contaminated products on site, ensuring they could not re‑enter the market.
The operation underscores the state’s heightened vigilance ahead of festive celebrations, when demand for sweets and snacks spikes. Authorities have urged vendors to adhere strictly to hygiene standards to protect public health.
