Food Safety Dept Seizes Spoiled Items from Restaurants in Patna, Muzaffarpur

The Bihar Food Safety Department inspected several eateries in Patna and Muzaffarpur, confiscating and destroying expired and rotten food items.
Patna and Muzaffarpur – Officials of the Bihar Food Safety Department carried out surprise inspections at a number of hotels, restaurants and food shops in the two cities. The checks, aimed at enforcing the state’s food‑safety standards, uncovered several instances of stored food that had passed its expiry date or showed visible signs of spoilage.
During the raids, inspectors seized a range of perishable items, including meat, dairy products and ready‑to‑eat meals that were found to be stale or contaminated. All confiscated goods were taken to a designated disposal facility where they were destroyed in accordance with departmental protocols.
The department has warned that further unannounced inspections will continue, and that any establishment found violating food‑safety norms will face strict penalties, including possible closure of the premises.
