A devastating flash flood in Nepal has claimed 669 lives, with more than 218 Indian nationals still unaccounted for, prompting India to deploy rescue teams to the affected region.
Heavy monsoon rains triggered flash floods across several districts of Nepal, leaving a death toll of 669 according to local authorities. The sudden surge of water swept away homes, roads and farmland, causing widespread devastation in the affected valleys.
Among the casualties, officials have reported that over 218 Indian citizens remain missing, with families anxiously awaiting news of their whereabouts. The Indian embassy in Kathmandu is coordinating with local agencies to locate and assist the untraced nationals.
In response, the Indian government has mobilised multiple rescue teams, including army medical units and disaster response squads, to the border regions. Airlift and ground operations are underway to deliver relief supplies and evacuate survivors, while authorities continue to assess the full extent of the disaster.
