First Passenger MEMU Train to Run on Tanda Road‑Dekakund Line from Sept 8, Flagged by PM Modi

A 12‑coach MEMU service will start on the Tanda Road‑Dekakund rail section on 8 September, linking the tribal Kukshi area of Madhya Pradesh. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the service virtually.
The Ministry of Railways announced that a 12‑coach MEMU passenger train will commence operations on the Tanda Road‑Dekakund line from 8 September. The new service will connect the remote tribal region of Kukshi in Madhya Pradesh with the broader rail network, offering daily commuter options for locals.
This is the first passenger train to run on the Tanda Road‑Dekakund section, which was previously used only for freight. Officials say the introduction of regular passenger services will boost mobility, facilitate trade, and improve access to education and healthcare for the tribal population.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will flag off the inaugural run through a virtual ceremony, underscoring the government's focus on expanding rail connectivity in underserved areas. The MEMU train is expected to run at regular intervals, with plans to increase frequency based on passenger demand.
