Amritsar farmers warn of rising flood danger as the first monsoon showers turn fields into vast water bodies.

Amritsar farmers are sounding the alarm after the first monsoon rains have turned vast stretches of farmland into large water bodies, raising concerns about an impending flood crisis.

The sudden influx of rainwater has caused several fields to overflow, creating shallow seas that threaten nearby villages and agricultural infrastructure. Local farmers report that the water levels have risen rapidly, leaving crops submerged and roads impassable.

Sukha Aujla, a prominent farmer in the region, expressed deep worry over the situation. "The fields have become like small seas," he said, highlighting the urgency for timely action to prevent widespread damage.

In response, district authorities have dispatched water management teams to assess the extent of the flooding and to coordinate with the Punjab irrigation department for possible drainage measures. Residents are advised to stay alert and follow official guidance as the monsoon continues to bring heavy rainfall.
