A blaze broke out at an ethanol manufacturing unit in Nayagarh, Odisha, leaving four employees with injuries.

A fire ignited at the ethanol production facility in Nayagarh, Odisha, on Monday morning, prompting an immediate emergency response. The blaze was reported shortly after 9 a.m., and fire‑fighting teams were dispatched to the site within minutes.

Four plant workers sustained injuries in the incident; three were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of burns and smoke inhalation, while the fourth received on‑site first aid before being transferred. All the injured are reported to be in stable condition.

Officials from the Odisha Fire Service confirmed that the fire was brought under control after roughly an hour of intensive effort. The plant’s management released a statement expressing relief that there were no fatalities and pledged full cooperation with authorities during the investigation.

The incident has temporarily halted production at the facility, which supplies ethanol to several regional distilleries and fuel blending units. State officials indicated that a safety audit will be conducted to determine the cause of the fire and to prevent future occurrences.

Local police have opened a probe to ascertain whether any procedural lapses contributed to the outbreak, and they have urged nearby residents to avoid the area until the site is declared safe.
