The Film & Television Producers Association has urged authorities to inspect food served on film and TV sets to ensure safety and hygiene for crew members.

The Film & Television Producers Association (FTPA) has formally requested that the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) or local health departments conduct inspections of food served on film and television sets across the country. The appeal follows growing concerns about hygiene practices and potential health risks for cast and crew who often work in large, close‑quartered environments.

FTPA spokespersons said that ensuring compliance with national food safety standards would protect workers and help maintain the industry's reputation for professionalism. The association has forwarded its request to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting as well as relevant municipal health authorities.

Industry insiders note that a formal inspection regime could lead to stricter guidelines for catering services on sets, potentially affecting how production houses manage on‑location meals. No official response has yet been issued by the authorities, but the call has already sparked discussions among producers and catering firms about improving food safety protocols.
