Farmers protesting in Delhi have continued to hold their positions at the Kanhori border, refusing to move until 29 August. Meetings with Sangrur and Patiala police and officials failed to secure permission to open the border.
Farmers who had joined the Delhi march have remained stationed at the Kanhori border, a key crossing between Haryana and Punjab, until the 29th of August. The protest, which began as part of a larger farmers’ movement, has seen the farmers refuse to move forward despite repeated calls from authorities.
In the days following the protest, police and administrative officials from Sangrur and Patiala met with the farmers. The discussions aimed to secure a decision to open the border and allow the farmers to proceed. However, no agreement was reached.
The Haryana Chief Minister had extended an invitation for a meeting with the farmers, but the invitation was declined. The farmers’ stance remains firm, and they continue to demand that their concerns be addressed before any movement is allowed.
The situation at the Kanhori border remains tense, with the farmers maintaining their positions and the authorities awaiting a resolution that satisfies both parties.
