The Haryana chief minister said the recently signed India-UK Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement will open global markets for the state’s industrial units, agricultural producers and micro-small-medium enterprises, according to The Statesman.
Newly concluded India-UK Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CETA) is expected to create fresh avenues for trade and investment between the two nations. The agreement, hailed as a milestone in bilateral economic relations, covers a wide range of sectors including manufacturing, agriculture and services.
The chief minister of Haryana highlighted that CETA will give the state’s industries, farmers and micro‑small‑medium enterprises (MSMEs) direct access to new global markets. He emphasized that reduced tariff barriers and streamlined customs procedures will make Haryana’s products more competitive abroad.
According to the minister, the agreement could spur higher export volumes, attract foreign investment into the state’s industrial clusters and facilitate technology transfer to local businesses. He also noted that MSMEs stand to benefit from capacity‑building programmes linked to the partnership.
State officials are set to work with central agencies to translate the promise of CETA into concrete projects for Haryana’s economy, though detailed implementation plans have not yet been disclosed.
