After the global takedown of the film ‘Satluj’ from OTT platforms, fans placed small donation boxes in Gurudwaras to show support, according to director Honey Trehan.

The Punjabi film ‘Satluj’, starring Diljit Dosanjh, was recently removed from all major OTT platforms worldwide, sparking a wave of disappointment among its fan base. In a spontaneous gesture of solidarity, thousands of supporters visited local Gurudwaras across India and placed small gullaks—traditional donation boxes—outside the sanctum to offer their blessings and financial support for the film’s creators.

Director Honey Trehan confirmed the trend in a brief statement to The Times of India, noting that the act was a heartfelt tribute rather than a commercial solicitation. She emphasized that the love and support from fans were more than enough and that the team could not accept any money, gifts, or donations.

The move has been widely shared on social media, with many devotees posting photos of the gullaks adorned with flowers and handwritten notes. While the film’s removal has left a void, the collective gesture has highlighted the strong bond between the star, the director, and their audience.

Experts suggest that such displays of support can help maintain a film’s legacy even after its digital availability ends, underscoring the enduring influence of fan communities in India’s entertainment landscape.
