Excel Entertainment, founded by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani, marked its 25th anniversary today and unveiled Excel Origins, a new initiative aimed at nurturing filmmakers aged 30 and below.
Excel Entertainment, the production house co‑founded by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani in 1999, celebrated its 25th anniversary on Tuesday.
During the celebration, the duo announced Excel Origins, a new arm of the company that will provide financial backing, mentorship and distribution support to filmmakers aged 30 and under.
Excel Origins will focus on nurturing fresh talent and encouraging innovative storytelling, with the founders saying the initiative reflects the company’s long‑standing commitment to the industry.
The launch follows a decade of success for Excel, which has produced a string of commercially and critically acclaimed films such as "Dil Chahta Hai", "Rock On!!" and "Bhaag Milkha Bhaag".
The announcement was made at a press event in Mumbai, where industry insiders and emerging filmmakers gathered to hear about the new program.
