DRI Confiscates 4.32 Million Sticks of Foreign Cigarettes in Mizoram

The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) announced today that its teams in Mizoram intercepted a large consignment of foreign cigarettes, totaling 43.2 lakh sticks. The seizure was executed under the agency's anti‑smuggling operations, which target illicit tobacco trade that evades customs duties and health regulations. Officials said the contraband was discovered during routine checks at border points in the state, though they did not disclose the origin or brand of the cigarettes. The confiscated stock will be handed over to the appropriate authorities for further legal action, and the case will be investigated for possible violations of the Customs Act.
