A film distributor claimed that the upcoming sequel ‘Jailer 2’ had the potential to earn over ₹1,200 crore, yet the current Rajinikanth release is unlikely to reach the ₹1,000 crore milestone.

A senior distributor for Tamil‑language releases told The Indian Express that the sequel to the 2023 hit ‘Jailer’, titled ‘Jailer 2’, was on track to generate more than ₹1,200 crore at the box‑office. The figure, if realised, would place the film among the highest‑grossing Indian movies ever.
The same source noted that the current Rajinikanth‑starrer, despite strong opening numbers, is unlikely to breach the ₹1,000 crore threshold that only a handful of Indian films have achieved. Industry analysts attribute the shortfall to a combination of higher production costs and a competitive release calendar.
The distributor refrained from providing exact ticket‑sale data, but emphasized that ‘Jailer 2’ benefits from a built‑in fan base, a wider release footprint across domestic and overseas territories, and aggressive marketing that could push its earnings well beyond the projected mark.
