Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav has formally addressed a letter to Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, raising concerns that ration dealers operating under the state’s public distribution system are facing severe distress. The correspondence alleges that a network of organised corruption is undermining the dealers’ ability to function effectively.
According to the letter, the dealers are being coerced into paying illegal commissions and are subjected to arbitrary inspections, which disrupt the supply of essential commodities to vulnerable households. Yadav contends that such practices not only erode the dealers’ livelihood but also jeopardise the integrity of the food security scheme.
The deputy chief minister has urged the chief minister to initiate a thorough investigation and to take corrective action against those responsible for the alleged malpractices.
