Deputy CM Chowna Mein and NITI Aayog Member Dr Joram Aniya Outline Sustainable Tourism Roadmap for Arunachal Pradesh

Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein and Dr Joram Aniya, a member of the NITI Aayog, convened a meeting to chart a sustainable tourism strategy for Arunachal Pradesh. The discussion focused on leveraging the state’s rich biodiversity, cultural heritage and frontier landscapes while ensuring environmental protection.

Both officials highlighted the need for eco‑friendly infrastructure, community‑based tourism models and capacity‑building programs for local entrepreneurs. They also stressed aligning the plan with national tourism policies and the NITI Aayog’s broader sustainability framework.

The roadmap is expected to attract responsible travelers, generate employment in remote districts and preserve indigenous traditions. Implementation will involve coordination with state departments, local bodies and private stakeholders over the coming months.

While specific timelines were not disclosed, the officials agreed to submit a detailed action plan to the state cabinet soon, marking a significant step toward positioning Arunachal Pradesh as a model for green tourism in the Northeast.
