Railway authorities have cancelled several mail and express trains originating from New Delhi and Hazrat Nizamuddin stations due to expected heavy congestion from a protest, affecting services to Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Rajasthan.

Indian Railways announced the cancellation of a number of mail and express trains that were scheduled to depart from New Delhi and Hazrat Nizamuddin stations on Saturday. The decision, effective from 4 a.m. to 2 p.m., was taken after officials warned of severe traffic congestion caused by a large protest in the capital.

The cancelled services primarily connect Delhi with the northern and eastern states of Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Rajasthan. Passengers with tickets on the affected trains have been advised to check the official railway portal or contact enquiry counters for updated information and possible rebooking.

Railway officials issued an advisory urging commuters to seek alternative travel arrangements and assured that refunds will be processed in accordance with standard procedures. The protest, which began early Saturday morning, continues to impact road and rail movement in and around the city.

Authorities are monitoring the situation closely and will issue further updates if additional services are affected or if the congestion eases before the scheduled end of the cancellation window.
