The Delhi government has commissioned 200 electric buses, introduced dedicated women‑only routes and begun a new service to Karnal, expanding the capital’s clean‑transport network.
Delhi’s transport authority has rolled out a fleet of 200 new electric buses as part of its ongoing effort to reduce vehicular emissions in the national capital. The addition is expected to bolster the city’s zero‑emission public‑transport capacity and ease congestion on busy corridors.
Alongside the new buses, the authority has inaugurated dedicated routes that are reserved exclusively for female passengers, aiming to enhance safety and comfort for women commuters. These ladies‑only services will operate on selected high‑traffic lines during peak hours.
A new intercity link to Karnal has also been launched, connecting the capital with the Haryana city via electric buses. The Karnal service expands Delhi’s reach beyond its borders while maintaining the environmental standards set by the e‑bus initiative.
Transport officials said the rollout aligns with Delhi’s broader climate goals and will be monitored for passenger uptake and operational efficiency.
