Cyclone Arnab moved into the Delhi region, bringing rain that helped lower particulate pollution and improve air quality across the National Capital Region.

A low‑pressure system identified as Cyclone Arnab entered northern India on Tuesday, delivering scattered showers across Delhi and the surrounding National Capital Region. The Indian Meteorological Department reported that the rain was moderate, lasting for a few hours in most parts of the city.

The precipitation helped to wash out airborne particles, leading to a noticeable drop in PM2.5 concentrations. Air quality monitoring stations recorded a shift from ‘poor’ to ‘moderate’ levels in several locations, offering temporary relief to residents who have been coping with a prolonged haze.

Authorities advised the public to remain cautious on wet roads but welcomed the natural cleansing effect of the rain. The meteorological service expects the system to move eastward later in the day, with only light rain remaining over the region.

Health officials reminded citizens that while the air quality has improved, vulnerable groups should continue to limit outdoor exposure, especially during peak traffic hours.

The city’s traffic management team announced that traffic flow may improve as visibility increases, but urged drivers to follow safety guidelines in wet conditions.
