The Confederation of Trade and Industry has appealed for round‑the‑clock fire‑fighting services and a ₹100 crore fire‑relief package for markets across Delhi.
The Confederation of Trade and Industry (CTI) has formally called for fire engines to be on standby 24 hours a day at Delhi's bustling market areas. In addition, the body is seeking a dedicated fire‑relief fund of ₹100 crore to strengthen fire‑prevention infrastructure and emergency response capabilities.
Delhi’s markets, known for dense commercial activity and narrow lanes, have historically faced challenges in containing fire outbreaks quickly. CTI argues that continuous fire‑engine presence would reduce response times and mitigate damage to livelihoods and property.
The association hopes that the proposed financial assistance will enable the procurement of modern fire‑fighting equipment, training for personnel, and the establishment of dedicated fire‑stations near high‑risk market zones. The appeal comes as part of broader efforts to improve safety standards for traders and shoppers alike.
