Consensus Workshop on NMHS‑2 Convened at AGMC 7‑GBP Hospital in Tripura

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare’s National Mental Health Survey‑2 entered its next stage with a consensus workshop held on the premises of AGMC 7‑GBP Hospital in Tripura. The two‑day meeting brought together psychiatrists, psychologists, public‑health researchers and officials from the state health department to finalise the survey’s sampling design, data‑collection tools and ethical guidelines. Participants reviewed lessons from the first phase of the survey and agreed on standardised protocols to ensure comparability across states. The workshop also outlined timelines for field deployment, training of enumerators and coordination with local health institutions. The gathering underscored the government’s commitment to addressing the growing burden of mental disorders in the northeast, where access to specialised care remains limited.
