Congress officials said the BJP could try to secure votes by bringing in MLAs from other parties, a tactic recently used by the Trinamool Congress.

Congress leaders have cautioned that the Bharatiya Janata Party may resort to a strategy similar to that employed by the Trinamool Congress, wherein it seeks the backing of legislators who have switched allegiance from other parties. The party's spokesperson highlighted that such "borrowed" MLAs could be used to bolster the BJP's numbers in legislative assemblies, especially in closely contested regions.

The observation was made during a press briefing where Congress representatives discussed recent political maneuvers ahead of upcoming state elections. They pointed out that the TMC's approach of integrating defectors had helped it maintain a foothold in West Bengal, and suggested that the BJP might replicate this model to offset any erosion in its own ranks.

No official response from the BJP has been recorded as of now. The comment underscores the growing competition among major parties to secure legislative strength through cross‑party defections, a practice that continues to shape India's political landscape.
