Congress MP Praveen Chakravarty questioned the handling of the SIR controversy and the recent deletion of voter names in Kerala and Tamil Nadu, calling for transparency.
Congress leader Praveen Chakravarty addressed the media on the ongoing SIR (Special Investigation Report) row, saying the issue requires a clear and impartial enquiry. He highlighted that the controversy has created confusion among party workers and the public, and urged the authorities to provide a detailed explanation of the steps taken so far.
Chakravarty also raised concerns about recent reports of voter name deletions in the electoral rolls of Kerala and Tamil Nadu. He asserted that any removal of eligible voters must be backed by verifiable data and procedural safeguards, warning that arbitrary deletions could undermine confidence in the electoral process.
The MP called for an immediate review by the Election Commission, requesting that the agency publish a transparent list of the names deleted and the criteria applied. He appealed to the central government to intervene if necessary, to ensure that the democratic rights of citizens are protected ahead of upcoming elections.
