Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann inaugurated the "Punjab Da Itihaas" initiative, urging the preservation of the state’s cultural legacy.
Punjab's chief minister, Bhagwant Mann, officially launched the "Punjab Da Itihaas" project in a ceremony attended by cultural scholars and government officials. The initiative aims to document, promote and protect the rich historical and cultural narratives of Punjab.
Mann emphasized that preserving the state's legacy is essential for future generations, calling for collaborative efforts between the government, academia and civil society. He highlighted the risk of cultural erosion amid rapid modernization and urged citizens to take pride in their heritage.
The launch also outlined plans for publishing a series of books, organizing exhibitions, and integrating Punjab's history into school curricula. Officials said the project will receive dedicated funding and will be overseen by a newly formed heritage board.
Stakeholders welcomed the move, noting that a focused approach to heritage conservation can boost tourism and strengthen regional identity. The initiative is expected to roll out its first publications later this year.
