China Southern Airlines will restart its Guangzhou‑Delhi service after a six‑year hiatus, a move timed before President Xi Jinping’s Brics summit visit to India. The airline said the revival will bring its South Asia operations to over 100 weekly flights across eight routes.

China Southern Airlines announced the resumption of its Guangzhou‑New Delhi route, which had been suspended for six years. The decision comes ahead of Chinese President Xi Jinping’s visit to India for the upcoming Brics summit. The airline stated that the revival will elevate its South Asia operations to more than 100 flights a week across eight round‑trip routes.

The Guangzhou‑Delhi service had been halted in 2017, and its return marks a significant expansion of China Southern’s presence in the Indian market. The airline’s spokesperson highlighted the strategic importance of the route for strengthening economic ties between the two countries.

Industry analysts note that the move aligns with broader efforts to boost air connectivity between China and India, especially in the context of the Brics summit. The airline will likely schedule multiple daily flights to accommodate business and leisure travelers.

Passengers can expect the new schedule to be announced shortly, with the first flights slated to depart in the coming weeks. The resumption is seen as a positive development for bilateral trade and tourism.

China Southern’s expansion reflects a growing trend of Chinese carriers increasing their footprint in India, following similar initiatives by other airlines in the region.
