The International Film Festival of Jammu & Kashmir (IFFJK) is set to re‑establish the region’s ties with the worldwide film community, aiming to open new avenues for local youth, Chief Secretary Dulloo announced.
Chief Secretary Dulloo told the Kashmir News Observer that the upcoming International Film Festival of Jammu & Kashmir will serve as a bridge between the state and the global cinema ecosystem. He highlighted that the festival’s programming, workshops and networking sessions are designed to expose Kashmiri filmmakers, actors and technicians to international standards and markets.
According to Dulloo, the event will also feature mentorship schemes and talent‑spotting initiatives aimed specifically at the region’s youth, providing them with practical skills and potential collaborations. The administration plans to facilitate participation of local film schools and independent creators, ensuring that the festival’s benefits reach grassroots levels.
The government expects the IFFJK to not only boost cultural tourism but also to generate employment opportunities in related sectors such as production, distribution and event management. Officials are coordinating with national and foreign cultural bodies to attract a diverse lineup of films and industry professionals.
The festival is slated to commence later this year, with venues to be confirmed across Jammu and the Kashmir valley. Organisers have pledged to adhere to safety protocols while delivering a vibrant showcase of cinematic art.
