The state government has introduced a new initiative across schools aimed at improving mental health and emotional well‑being of pupils.
The Chhattisgarh government announced a statewide programme designed to strengthen the mental health and emotional resilience of school‑age children. The scheme, launched by the Department of School Education, will be rolled out in government and aided schools beginning next month.
Key components include regular counselling sessions conducted by trained mental‑health professionals, capacity‑building workshops for teachers on identifying stress signals, and age‑appropriate life‑skills modules integrated into the curriculum. Schools will also receive resource kits containing activity guides, mindfulness exercises, and informational pamphlets for parents.
The initiative is being piloted in 50 schools across Raipur, Bilaspur and Durg districts before a phased expansion to all districts by the end of the academic year. Officials expect the programme to reduce incidences of anxiety, improve academic engagement, and create a supportive school environment for children facing emotional challenges.
