State officials gathered in Chhattisgarh for a workshop aimed at reviewing gaps in district mental‑health services and strengthening suicide‑prevention strategies.
State health officials convened in Chhattisgarh for a dedicated workshop to examine shortcomings in mental‑health provision across the state’s districts. The meeting, organized by the state health department, brought together senior medical officers, district administrators and mental‑health experts to share recent data and field observations.
Participants highlighted uneven availability of counselling services, a shortage of trained psychiatrists and limited community‑based outreach in several districts. The discussion focused on identifying priority areas where resources and training are most needed to bridge these gaps.
A major agenda item was suicide prevention. Delegates reviewed existing helpline networks, school‑based awareness programmes and crisis‑intervention protocols, agreeing to expand outreach and improve early‑warning mechanisms. The workshop concluded with a plan to draft a state‑wide action framework to be presented to the chief minister’s office within the next month.
