Consumers across Chhattisgarh are staging protests against the state’s smart meter rollout, citing a sharp increase in their electricity bills.
Smart meters have recently been installed across Chhattisgarh to replace older analog meters.
Consumers claim that the new meters have led to a sharp rise in their electricity bills, sparking protests in several districts.
The state electricity board has not yet issued a statement on the issue, while consumer rights groups call for a transparent audit.
Authorities have pledged to investigate the billing discrepancies and ensure accurate meter readings.
